Shazkya D. Fernandez is a National Certified Teacher of Music in Piano with the Music Teachers National Association, and has a Bachelors in Flute with the National Conservatory of Ecuador. She has 30 years of organized music experience and 15 years as a professional musician and teacher. She is an expert in classical, baroque, romantic, jazz, blues, and Latin music.
Professional Experience
Ms. Shazkya has taught piano and flute at the following distinguished schools: St. Lucie Christian Academy, Bible Baptist School, Golden Rule Academy, Little Prodigy School of Music, The Pine School, and currently at the Lutheran Redeemer School and Church of Stuart. She also accepts individualized lessons in her private Music Studio. More than 100 of Ms. Shazkya’s students have entered in Festivals, Music-thon, Guild auditions, and Honor’s Recitals which all have earned highest scores and prize winning results.
At the age of 17, Ms. Shazkya was invited to participate in the National Flute Convention, held in New York City, representing her home country of Ecuador. During her career, Ms. Shazkya has performed flute professionally in the Miami Symphony Orchestra, the Broward Symphony Orchestra, Port Saint Lucie Concert Band, and the Treasure Coast Flute Choir.
She was a prize winning performer in the “Competition of the Sonata-Sonatina” held in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Training
Ms. Shazkya received 11 years of training in the National Conservatory of Music in Quito, Ecuador for flute and piano (a study of both harmonic and melodic instruments is required in Ecuador.) She studied song-writing at the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Institute in Ecuador. She also earned a Diploma in “Expression through movement, acting and stage presence” at The Provincial Board of Pichincha in Ecuador (1997). She received 2 years of individualized training with Joanne Raulin (Principal Organist, Palm City Presbyterian Church in Palm City, Florida), learning Pedagogy.
