I am very happy that you have made the decision to study a musical instrument. Learning to play an instrument can be a very rewarding experience if there is a strong commitment from both the parent and the child. This statement will explain the importance of daily practice and the policies and procedures of this studio.
To ensure success, regular practice is a vital component of the process of learning to play an instrument. Very few children have the self-discipline of motivation to practice on their own; it will be up to the parent to strongly encourage practice and set aside the time for it every day.
For children between the ages of 4-6, 15 minutes of practice per day is adequate. You can fit in more time, by splitting the practice sessions between morning and afternoon, your child will be very successful and will enjoy learning to play an instrument. For older children, 7 and up, 20 minutes or more of practice every day will ensure steady progress.
When children arrive at their lesson feeling prepared and their music is well practiced, the lessons will be more productive and the whole experience will be more positive.
